In 2022 Hochbaum created a series of works on 23" x 30" printing paper utilizing and new set of window silkscreens he had made. These new works were filled with bright, vibrant colors which he had only recently embraced in his work. The result were a handful of towers and city scenes, some of which he completed in 2022, some were finished in 2025 after being kept in storage for 3 years.
This piece is one that was revisited after being kept in storage. David removed a few flowers and replaced them with the bird's feet. This is a nod to his many projects involving the Babayaga house.
Often times, the towers that Hochbaum creates takes on the form of a human and becomes a portrait more than a landscape. In this case, the artist feels himself as the character with the title reflecting his feelings of waking up beside his lover.
The piece is made with silkscreen water based inks, acrylic paints, and pencil.
